AT&T Mobility Workers Ratify Labor Agreement

AT&T Mobility and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) have reached a tentative labor agreement that has been ratified by the majority of the company`s 45,000 unionized employees. The agreement includes improved wages, benefits, and job security for workers across the country.

The agreement will provide workers with a 10.1% wage increase over four years, as well as a $1,000 signing bonus for members with at least six months of service. It will also provide improved healthcare benefits, with lower deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums.

The labor agreement includes a commitment from AT&T Mobility to invest in its U.S. workforce. The company has pledged to create 3,000 new call center jobs, bringing the total number of call center jobs to 12,000. Additionally, the agreement includes a commitment from the company to keep retail locations open for a minimum of three years.

CWA President Chris Shelton called the agreement a “major victory for workers across the country.” Shelton said that the agreement “provides solid wage increases, strong job security provisions, and maintains affordable healthcare for workers and their families.”

The labor agreement is welcome news for AT&T Mobility workers, who have been working without a contract since February. It is also positive news for the company, which has been facing increased competition from rivals such as T-Mobile and Sprint.

In a statement, AT&T Mobility CEO Glenn Lurie said, “We are pleased to have reached a fair agreement with the CWA that benefits our employees and our company. Together, we will continue to provide our customers with the high quality service they expect from AT&T.”

The labor agreement is effective immediately and will remain in effect until February 11, 2021.
